How To Snack Smarter At Work

Getting through a tough office day can be stressful. Few hours deep into office work, you might feel hungry and drained of energy. There are days when you might have to do overtime as well. Having a healthy snack gives you the required energy to get you through the work day. Healthy snacking is any day better for the body than eating junk food. At the office, there would be some limitations in making snacks. Keeping this in mind, here is the list of some of the tasty snacks that are perfect for office breaks. Making these snacks is easy as the ingredients are readily available. Cooking isn’t required in most of the snack items below, but for some of them you might need a microwave.  

Hummus and carrots

Hummus is a high protein food product made from chickpeas and sesame oil. It is a great source of fiber for the human body. Hummus is also good for the brain. Carrot, on the other hand, is rich in Vitamin A and potassium. Both these products pair up nicely to form a balanced snack. You can also pair hummus with a wide variety of vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, celery, etc. to increase the nutrition quotient. 

Low sugar yogurt

Yogurt is a well-known source of calcium, probiotics, and protein. If you are vegetarian, then yogurt is an excellent source of protein for you. Most of the yogurt available commercially is rich in sugar, but certain brands also sell low sugar yogurt. Greek yogurt is one such healthy product that can be paired with fruits for an office snack. You can also buy flavored yogurt if you don’t like plain Greek yogurt. 

Fruits and nuts

Simplest snack that you can prepare for your office is a combination of fruits and nuts. Almonds, pistachios, cashew, walnut, etc. are rich in vitamins, fiber, minerals, and healthy fats. These are good for the brain as well. Fruits like strawberry, green apple, banana, etc. are good for health and provide all the necessary vitamins for the human body. A combination of fruits and nuts like bananas and pecan, strawberry and almonds, etc. makes for a healthy office snack.

Vegetables and dip 

If you love dips, then you are in for a great snack. Dips are generally served with chips, crackers, tortillas, and other junk food items. But a combination of veggies with dips is a healthy snack option. Vegetables are healthy, are low in calories, have high fiber content, and rich in vitamins and minerals. You can even make dips healthier by following any low-cholesterol recipes. 

Salads

Salad is a fulfilling meal that works best as a snack. You can create a mix of salad greens, nuts, fruits, boiled veggies, vinaigrette, etc. to make a healthy salad for yourself. Add the salad dressing only when you plan to eat it, otherwise the salad will become soggy. You can also add a hint of lemon juice to add vitamin C to your salad. Fruits, nuts, and veggies are known to be rich in vitamins and minerals. Thus, salad is a good choice for a healthy office snack.

Healthy drink

Taking a small break during work to refresh your mind is necessary. A healthy drink is the best option here. You can take smoothies, milkshakes, etc. to refresh yourself. Fruit-based smoothies and milkshakes are healthy to drink and are rich in nutrients needed by the body. If you are a coffee lover, you can opt for coffee pods. Using these pods, you can make a healthy black coffee. These pods are biodegradable as well, hence wastage is minimum. 

Oatmeal

It is a known fact that oatmeal is a healthy breakfast meal. Also, you just need a microwave to make instant oatmeal. Adding raisins to your oatmeal snack will give you the required flavour and fiber for your body. You can also add some veggies to amplify the nutrient content. Oatmeal makes for a great nutritious midday snack.
