What’s Coronavirus and Why It’s Spreading So Quickly

Unless you’ve been hiding in a cave for the last two months, you must have heard of Coronavirus and the chaos it has made across the globe. Since it’s the first appearance in China, back in January, Coronavirus has already spread in 140 countries, including the US, Italy, Iran, etc.

In fact, 1,000 deaths have been confirmed in Italy while 145,000 Coronavirus cases have been registered worldwide. If anything, the disease has spread like a wildfire that’s becoming more and more challenging to extinguish.

However, many people want to know what Coronavirus is and why it’s spreading so quickly. To help you understand about the virus, we have made an effort to explain its origin, the spreading mechanism, and the essential precautions you should take to stay safe.

Where Did the Coronavirus Come From?

As far as the origination is concerned, Coronavirus came from a water market in Wuhan, China. The market sold both dead and live animals and it is expected that the virus entered human society from that market only.

The first thing you should understand is that Coronavirus is a family of viruses that are zoo tonic in nature, which means they got transferred from animals to humans. Covid-19 is the latest virus that has wreaked havoc in various corners of the world.

Since Covid-19 has never been seen in humans before, it has got really challenging for scientists to develop vaccination to cure the virus. However, the good news is the death rate is comparatively lower in the case of Covid-19.

If the person has good immunity, the odds for him to survive after coming in contact with the virus are way higher. But, that doesn’t mean that one should not take precautions to stay away from the virus.

How Does Covid-19 Spreads?

Covid-19 spreads just like regular flu or cold. When an infected person sneezes or coughs, the infected particles land on the surface. As soon as someone touches the surface, these particles move to their hand and eventually enter the human body.

That’s why frequent hand wash is the best way to keep yourself away from the virus. We recommend using keeping a hand-sanitizer with you all the time and using it every once an hour, especially if you traveling in any public transport.

If possible, try to avoid crowded places like supermarkets and malls. It is better to stay at home than to roam around in public outside. Here are some of the additional precautions you should follow to protect yourself from Covid-19.

  • Wash your hands with soap & water multiple times in a day. If you’re traveling, make sure to use a hand sanitizing gel as much as possible.
  • Don’t go too close to people who are suffering from the flu, even if it’s a common cold.
  • If you’re taking care of someone who is sick, make sure to cover your face with a mask.
  • In case you are sick, don’t let others come near you and cover your face while sneezing or coughing.

Coronavirus is not a joke and it’s surely not infecting the Asian countries only. The virus has already entered countries like the USA, UK, Italy, and several other European countries. So, make sure to take as many precautions as possible.
